The Kills show in Ft. Lauderdale (Revolution Live)

I celebrated the end of January by going to see THE KILLS at Revolution Live!

Honestly, I thought the kills would never come to Miami.. that's why last year in April I went to NYC to see them live..

so it was a pretty awesome surprise and I had to go again!!

The setlist was way better than the show in NY, here they played black balloon and last day of magic... so it was worth it ;)

I love VV- her style, her voice and HER HAIR... but I prefer it black .

So... I'm in Miami now, I really missed this city! :) I have to catch up on my blogging, because there's so much I need to post and share over here.

It was very nice coming home and getting lots of pen-pal letters, swaps, gifts from other bloggers.

Valentine's day is coming soon, and I'm very excited about it!!! I was at Walmart yesterday, and the valentine's section there is amazing.. I don't bake, but I wanted to buy EVERYTHING from cookie cutters -baking pans, everything heart shaped !!!! makes me happy!

Anyway, my boyfriend is far far away from here, but that doesn't mean he's far away from my heart!!! :D I got a valentine's gift from him yesterday! It was a very nice surprise!

I will celebrate valentine's day with my friends, it would be awesome, just like last year! :)

Last year (not so long ago), my friend Cesar Jimenez from Cartagena took few photos of my bags I took to finish them off (straps are still missing).

Loved the result, we used my vintage radio and sewing machine I have in my house for decoration and off course in my beautiful home ;)!

I have many bags ready to be sold, but I'm still in Colombia. I can't ship from here (I can, but its too expensive..). I am still debating on whether to open up my Etsy store again or to open my own store here on my blog via paypal.

Goals 2012

I am ALMOST ready to start my year.. I know, the year has already started without me! but I am still on vacation- yes.

These are just a few goals I wrote while I was waiting for the year to end!

So, I am still on vacation, but a little part of me wants to go on and start this year in Miami, I think it would be a great one!

Important Events on 2011 ♡

On April I wrote my one and only Caturday Post - Dedicated to her ♡

On May 5th was my 25th B-day! I Had a Blog Party plus a really awesome B-day with a Rainbow Cake!! :) I also went to NYC with 2 friends to see The Kills concert at Terminal 2! part1, part2, part3

On August through October I was in Barcelona! I had a Pattern Making class, and assisted to various of handmade workshops. I learned crochet techniques and improved my knitting skills. I had a great time :)

November to December In Cartagena, Colombia. It's really weird to be back home again after a year, but its actually very relaxing. It's not easy getting used to the heat up here, but as long as there's water, I shower 3 times a day on a typical warm day.

I will be back in Miami on January 23rd ! I can't wait! ;)

It's that time of year again- when you make all plans and goals hoping to be done by the end of the year.. some were made, others fail to succeed. In any case, you at least tried, so cheers for that! ;)

I've been absent over here on my blog! So, here is to a little re-cap!

1. My wisdom teeth are gone now, a week at home in pain! My healing process was very good though! My 4 teeth were growing very tilted and pushing my other teeth so, I had to take them off. I was not prepared for this! I went to my appointment hoping to get a little cleaning and ended up having to take them off! I was so scared, but there was no pain- it was only a little weird having to see all the operation. Few hours after, I was in pain but thank god for antibiotics and pain killers!

My boyfriend came from Barcelona the 14th and he got me a BIG crochet hook from Crochetismos :D

If you know me, I can't be here without doing something crafty! I started making crochet baskets with a big crochet hook and flannel fabric I had in storage.

And I proudly made Twinkie Chan's Cupcake Scarf!!! (At last!)

I went to see bambies again, this time with my boy!!

A week after the operation I could start eating again..the food here is awesome!

I am enjoying my boyfriend's company and I've been very crafty as always ;)

Good Knits - Mary Jane slippers pattern

I discovered this awesome pattern from Good Knits and I had to try it!

My first try , I started crochetting it with a size 5 needle and regular thread and the slipper came out really big- It fitted my dad. lol

So, I did it again with a size 3.75 needle and It came out better!!

And I made the other one and IT WAS PERFECT! (loved it actually) even better than the second one.. practice makes perfection I guess.. But it kinda frustrate me.. I wanted to make another one exactly the same, but I ran out of thread! >.<

This is the last one I made... here it was half way done!

Overall, it was an awesome project, I want to make more !! :)

How I make my awesome coffee?

I just combine milk, splenda, a tablespoon of Nescafe instant coffee - heat this combination up.. and use the aereolatte to stir it ..

This is the end result thanks to aereolatte and off course Colombian coffee! ;)

I'm so busy lately with work and freelance!! I am leaving to Colombia THIS Saturday and I am really stressed out! Today I got up really early and went to work to help out in the photoshoot for Miss Mundo Latina US 2011- Chrisally Espinal (República Dominicana) for our Magazine; Moda Fashion Magazine - Dec issue.

Knitting & Crochet Projects so far.. ♡ pt 2

I love cowls!!! They are shorter and faster to make, plus they look awesome.

This one was my first try to do the single crochet stitch! I did a tutorial on how to make a cozy iphone case with the same yarn and then I started making this :)

This one is the same Single Crochet stitch but with a hook size 12mm and 3 different types of thin yarns.. The actual piece looks awesome, very thick and cozy plus it took me 2 hours - with the big crochet hook is faster!

This knitted cowl was made with 100% wool, so its very soft and nice..The pattern is called Basket Weave, and I did it 8x8 so- pattern is 8 knit, 8 purl and repeat multiples of 8 and when you turn, every time you see knit, you knit, when you see purl you purl!

This last one I made it with a 19mm crochet hook so it has holes all around. I love the uneveness of it! ^^ I combined single crochet and double crochet!!

I wore this one yesterday although Miami's weather is still not cold as it will normally be this time of year- :(

Since I made my first scarf, I can't stop! :)

I've been learning and making new things.. (also teaching.. to my friends ;)) I'm a great teacher btw!!!!! haha

Here is my process so far..

This was my first scarf ever! I will always be so proud of this one !

The Knit Stitch is the basic Knitting stitch - the easiest one too! If you want to learn, start with this stitch and practice a lot! It's really hard at first.

In Spain they call it " El punto Bobo" translation: "The dumb stitch"! I find this very funny.

Here is my favorite tutorial (its in spanish, but don't freak out, by only watching you will get it)

I wrote a post about pencils, and found a a couple of pencil scarves and I needed to make one!

This one was made without pattern! I started doing it by myself after a friend's aunt taught me to make crochet triangles. yay! I used the Single Crochet Stitch all the way, changed colors as I needed. I got carried away and closed it because I wanted to wear it.. and I think It would had been better if I've done it longer!!!! but oh well, I love this one, is very fun! I'm also thinking of making colored pencil ones! ^^

My favorite Single Crochet tutorial if you want to try this one out!

This one is by far my best scarf ever! :) It is a surprise for December.. so I won't say it now... so Its not mine :( I am doing another one for me tho'! It is the softest yarn ever and I made some fringes on each side.

I made this Rib stitch by Knit 2 and Purl 2 all the way.

Swap O Rama 3.0 ♡

Today, my friend Bea and I went to Ft Lauderdale for the Swap O Rama event!! It was pretty cool!!!

The Event took place at The Bubble, which is an Art Gallery.

You donate a bag of unwanted clothes and pay $5 to get in... :)

Every donation - clothes, accessories, shoes, yarn, all was organized in color and when you got in you could browse around and see stuff you might want- FOR FREE

There was Tie Dye booth, screen printing booth, sewing machines and sergers for you to take it to the next level!

We sat and crochet/knit for a while and took many many balls of yarn!!! yaay!

It was lots of fun!! I will def go there next year (they do it twice a year!!)

I started learning Crochet (Ganchillo) about 2 months ago in Barcelona because I wanted to start making Amigurumis but I quickly started loving it - I saw Twinkie Chan's book and she became my new favorite artist!!! I want to make everything she does! haha so awesome!

It's been a week now working in her office- I re-designed 2 of her blogs so far, and we are talking about future projects together for next year!! :)

I've been a busy bee but I'm loving every second of it!

Helping the Homeless in Miami!

On Sunday, 3 of my friends and I went out to the nearest Publix supermarket and bought $5 each of food to make some sandwiches to give out! It was a very rewarding experience.. It felt so good seeing their faces and smiles!

We gave out 42 ham and cheese sandwiches with chips in South Beach and in Downtown Miami!

We want to keep doing this, there are many people who needs a little help in this world.. be grateful of what you have.. ;)

Make an Ipod crochet cozy!

So, many of you know, Dana is doing her crochet class on her blog! I love it! I've been learning a lot!!! and last week I started doing my first swatch with crochet not on the round but straight - and I ended up doing an ipod cozy!!!! I needed something to protect my ipod and this was perfect!

Materials

1. crochet hook (5mm)
2. a pretty color yarn
3. paper scissors
4. a small crochet hook or a yarn needle
4. a pretty little colored button
5. pieces of another color yarn

1. Start by making a chain of 21 stitches and do single crochet until you reach the height of the gadget!

2. When you think you're done just cut the yarn and make a little knot!

3. Fold the piece in half and start sewing it on the 2 corners - I did it like a shoe lace..

4. Add a cute little button in the front with a regular needle and thread and sew the back the little piece of yarn and you're done!

Crochet and Knitting are VERY addictive, beware! Hope you like it! ;)

A Cute Boom Box!

This cute little boom box is visible on I-95 going north! It is located in Downtown, Miami on the Design District! I always wanted to take pictures, but I wasn't sure where it was, until yesterday that I passed by it! yaaay !

I have no idea what it is, I love it!

These photos were taken by my Ipod while I was inside my car.. I was alone and that part of Miami is not that safe :P

Oh and btw, I AM BACK in Miami.. hahaha :) missing Barcelona but loving it here too! ;)

The Skin I live in - Movie

I was at the movies yesterday and I watched "La Piel Que Habito" translation: "The Skin I live in" a film by Pedro Almodovar a Spanish filmmaker- I was really impressed and I have to say that I really loved it, everything about it. It's a kinda fucked up movie- but that's the whole beauty of it and of Almodovar's films.... I'm not going to spoil the movie for you, but I really want people to watch it, its very interesting.. ;)

I didn't think Knitting would become so addictive! I learned to knit last year while watching youtube tutorials- so I learned to cast on, the basic knit stitch and then to cast off.. I practiced a lot, I even practiced with plastic bags as my yarn.. cool stuff..

The problem was I stopped because my little finger started hurting.. A LOT.

I don't know why, does this happen to knitters???

Anyway, last week I took knitting back and I have to say, worth it! Love everything even though I only know a basic stitch, because the Purl Stitch is really hard for me right now.. I made my first scarf- I love the yarn, the colors, the texture everything! yay! I'm very proud! It took me a week, every night I knitted urging for the yarn to finish!! haha

This Saturday I have a knitting workshop in which I will learn basic stitches and improve my techniques!

Oh my! Time flew by.. I am still in Barcelona, and I have my ticket for the 20th.. :(:(:( I really.. really .. really.. DON'T want to go :( I'm kinda considering staying one more month- but nothing is planned yet.. I have no clue what to do I just want to stay longer.

Off course, I miss Miami, my family and friends but.. I'm loving it here! My patternmaking class is awesome, I have discovered a couple of workshops that I would love to participate and I kinda have to miss class to assist.. so If I stay longer I can assist those workshops and skip class but with the chance to go to class another day!! The thing is my class lasts month and a half so strictly to finish class and leave on the 20th.. see..??

Another reason I would love to stay is the fact that I'm everyday in class so I don't get a chance to walk, relax, go to museums or libraries, everything has to be in the morning pretty fast, because at night I get home at 8:30 and I'm dead!!! so so tired, I just want to eat, relax and maybe practice crocheting..

There's another reason - HALLOWEEN IN BARCELONA

I love Halloween, I love to get dressed up and it would be cool to be here and see how it is here.

also.. I love my boyfriend :) and I will be very sad If I go and leave him here :(

So many other reasons *sigh..

I would like to say that my mom is pretty supportive and I love her for that (I know she's reading it, because she's like my number one fan hehe) <3 I miss her and I want her to understand that I have NO CLUE what to do but eventually I will, so I want her not to worry about a thing.. because every thing is going to be all right.. *bob marley song. yeah :)

My favorite thing about Barcelona is all the unique handmade things you find all over.. all the little corners of handmade stores I run into and dieeeee of happiness when I'm inside! so pretty!! Another thing I love is that here I can find handmade workshops everywhere- amigurumi, knitting, embroidery, punch needle, stamp carving- you name it, they have it! ^^

On the weekend I discovered a cute little store on facebook.. so my bf and I went yesterday: I Love Kutchi store.. and OHH man.. it was lovely ♡ It inspired me a lot and I went home a very happy girl with a unicorn pin and a some lovely hair pins! :)

Last weekend we had a trip to Cadaques.. Now I am sharing it with my Fisheye Camera..

Ok. Most of my photos came out very blurry and some I didn't even scan them.. they truly sucked.. :(:( I don't know why!! help me if you can! I already added a new film to my camera, hope they turn out better..

Friday and Saturday

The two workshops were at Cosmos, a coffee place and an Art gallery and were sponsored by Dudua! I was so excited to assist one of their classes since I got here to Barcelona, but all August was closed, so I waited for them to re-open on Sept.. and I got to assist to 2 awesome workshops!!

Oh gosh, I've been so blog behind lately... Everyday I think of things to post about-I've been crafting A LOT and if you follow me via instagram or twitter, I post craft photos everyday ..but not enough time goes on to writing here!!! :( I have patternmaking class everyday from 4-8pm.. and I usually get home REALLYYYYYYY tired - and hungry! So I eat and read blogs which by the end of the day more than 60 blog posts are unread of my bloglovin page... and there goes my night.. just chillin, eating, laying in bed maybe crafting a little.. and talking to my parents and friends back home :) I miss everyone!!

Also, I miss my blackberry - not the bb messenger, but having wi-fi on my phone.. although its kind of good in a way.. not depending on it too much, and I usually never miss it.. but yeah sometimes its useful..

anyway! I am alive and very happy here :) very inspired too! I love my class and I've been attending workshops - I have 2 workshops to attend this weekend!
